Mussarat baji is the wife of Taj Din Butt and lives in the city of Riwind, Pakistan. She owes a two room brick house and has been living in it for the past 10 years. She is the mother of eight children: six sons and two daughters. Her oldest three sons work in a factory while the remaining children are still enrolled in a neighborhood school. Mussarat baji’s husband is a daily wage laborer. For the past 10 years, Mussarat baji has been selling milk.

Mussarat baji has successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). She is now applying for a loan to buy more milk for resale. She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Bilquis baji is requesting a loan to buy medicines and equipment for her midwife business. Hamidan baji is requesting a loan to buy items (chairs and tables) for her school. Suraiya baji is requesting a loan to buy leather and nails for her shoe making business. Razia baji is requesting a loan to repair her auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in theirown business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible for repayment.
