Esther is 19 years old, single, and studied to the fifth year of secondary school. She lives in the Yunguyo district, in the province of Yunguno-Puno. She has been a member of the communal bank “Virgen de la Asunción” in Yunguyo for one year, when she received her first loan of 300.00 soles. The loan augmented her working capital and she purchased cookies, sodas, rice, sugar, etc. for her grocery store. At 17 years of age, she went to work in Lima with her sister. After 1 ½ years, she returned and installed her small store near the 2nd of May Plaza where she sells every day. With the loan of 1,500.00 soles that she is requesting and intends to pay back in four installments, she will purchase 2 sacks of rice at 0.28 soles, 2 sacks of sugar at 0.14 soles, noodles, sodas, etc. Her wish is to have a large store and travel to other places.
