Rita buys inventory for her store

Entrepreneur: Rita Dawoud
Location: Ayha, Lebanon

We visited Rita at her store where she sells clothes and accessories for women and kids. She used the loan proceeds to buy inventory. Usually business is slow during the winter months, and Rita is looking forward to a strong summer season. Rita lives behind her store. She and her husband own the store and their home.

In the coming years, Rita hopes to expand the variety of clothes she offers in her store. Particularly, she hopes to offer a variety of more formal wear.

Rita's business is in Rashaya, in the south east of Lebanon. Rashaya is a small town in the Beqaa governorate. Lebanon is divided into six governorates. The town is famous for the castle of Rashaya where leaders of the independence were imprisoned by the French. The town is also known for its old market street which attracts people from the area especially during the weekend.
