Irshad M. Iqbal Group

Irshad baji is the wife of M. Iqbal and lives in Borewala, Pakistan. She has been living in this city for the past 10 years. She is the mother of three children: two sons and one daughter. Her elder son sells wood. Her younger son is in the 3rd standard grade. Her daughter is in kindergarten.

Irshad baji's husband is a delivery man by profession. He loads fruits and vegetables on his donkey cart and delivers them to different areas of the city. Irshad baji is applying for a loan to buy another donkey cart because their old cart has broken and become unusable.

She is joined in her loan group by three more members. Rahmat baji wants a loan to buy wheat to resell. Shakooran baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk-selling business. Shamim baji wants a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: Baji, which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
