Manzooran Lal-ud-din's Group

Manzooran baji is a wife of Lal-ud-Din and lives in Arifwala, Pakistan. She owns a two-room brick house, where she has lived for the past 35 years. She is the mother of five children: four sons and one daughter. Her eldest son makes embroidered clothes. The next eldest son has a grocery shop. The third oldest is in third standard, and her youngest son is just 12 years old. Manzooran baji’s husband has been a fruit seller for the past 5 years.

Manzooran baji is a housewife who prefers to do household work and take care of her family. She successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy groceries for her son’s grocery shop.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

The loan group has four other members. Rani baji wants a loan to buy a photocopier. Sadia baji wants to buy chicken food for her poultry farm. Sonia baji wants to buy lentils, cooking oil, and spices for her food business. Seema baji wants a loan to buy tools for her motor workshop.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
