Mukhtar Ameer Hamza's Group

Mukhtar baji is a wife of Ameer Hamza. She owns a two-room brick house in Arifwala, Pakistan, and has been living in it for the past 17 years. She is the mother of five children: three sons and two daughters. Her eldest son is in 4th standard, her second son is in 3rd standard, and her youngest son is in 2nd standard. Her daughters are free and stay at home.

Mukhtar baji’s husband is a salesman who sells candies to wholesalers. He has been in this business for the past 3 years. Mukhtar baji is a housewife and prefers to do household work and take care of her family. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy more candies to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

The loan group includes four other members. Suraiya baji wants a loan to buy medicines for her medical store. Azra baji wants a loan to buy candies to resell. Haleema baji wants a loan to buy vehicle engine oil to resell. Seema baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk-selling business.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
