Ameena M.ashiq's Group

Ameena baji is the widow of M.Ashiq and lives in a small place named Kot Radha Kishan of the city Kasur, Pakistan. Kot Radha Kishan is 40 km from Kasur. She has been living in this place for the last 32 years. She is the mother of four sons. Her first two sons are daily wage laborers. Her younger son buys goats for reselling. Her youngest son is a milk seller by profession. He has been in this business for the past 3 years. Ameena baji herself is a housewife and prefers to do household work and take care of her family. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy a buffalo to expand her son’s milk selling business.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Zuhra baji wants a loan to buy cigarettes to resell. Nusrat baji and Jamila baji each want a loan to buy a buffalo for their milk selling business. Farzana baji wants a loan to buy ingredients (tea, sugar and milk) for her tea stall. Rasoolan baji wants a loan to buy buffalo to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
