The Wassa group is made up of five women (four are married and one is single) from Kimparana (Prefecture of San, in the Ségou Region). On average, they are 29 years old and the mother of at least two children.

They run various businesses, such as selling fruits, vegetables, and local non-alcoholic beverages. To bolster their businesses, the members joined the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso two years ago. The amount of loaned money ranged from XOF 50'000 (ca US$ 100) for the first loan, up to XOF 100'000 (ca US$ 200) for their fifth one. They purchase goods (bananas, guavas, papayas, jujube, etc) in the market of the Kimparana village. The products are sold in the Kimparana market, at home, and in schools. With this new loan, they foresee to make, on average, XOF 90'000 (ca US$ 180) for the duration of the loan. In addition to paying back the loan, the also intend to use part of their revenues to pay for daily family expenses.
