Ismah Omullah, 45, is a member of the Bugolo group with a business of buying ‘mukene,’ small silvery fish, from the fishermen in Kikondo and Busaana, using his bicycle as transport, for 10 years. He is married with 7 children of whom some are older and the others are still in school; also he takes care of 1 orphan.

Ismah Omullah is very proud of the trend that his business is taking after he joined his lending group whereby he now buys about 50 to 100 basins of fish, each at 7000 shillings; he sells them at Mbale district market once a week.

He is seeking a loan to be able to buy more basins of fish so that he can include Tororo district on his list of markets, hence selling to Mbale on Monday and Tororo on Friday. He is a businessman who has grown over the three years since he joined his lending group, taking loans from US$ 185, $610, $925, and he now needs a loan of US$ 1200 for his business expansion.

Omullah Ismah is a business man in Kikondo where he buys mukene and sells to his customers in Lugazi, Jinja, Tororo and Mbale. In order to supply all his customers, Ismah ensures that he buys more basins of mukene hence earning more. He has a hope of one day owning his own boats where he could hire people to do the fishing for him at a pay depending on the catch for the day; and he plans to one day take a loan to buy this boat.
