Gloria is 33 years old, and has a domestic partner and 2 under age children. She finished her studies and lives in Jr. Loreto Nº 335 in the Ilave district, in the Province of El Collao – Puno. She has been a member of the San Miguel microfinance institute for 5 years.
In the beginning, she increased her capital with a loan of 300.00 PEN in order to buy supplies such as vegetables, rice, sugar, propane, potatoes, and others for her restaurant. After two years she decided to change her business, so she opened up a snack bar in which she sells cakes, salteñas (savory pastries filled with pork, beef, or chicken mixed with a sweet and spicy sauce), and empanadas. She currently owns a cellular phone shop as well as her snack bar business. She tells us that she runs both businesses due to a lack of employment.
With this loan of 3,000.00 PEN, which will be repaid in 3 monthly installments, she will purchase 5 sacks of flour, 7 sacks of rice, among other goods, as well as more cellular phone accessories for her shop.
Her biggest wish is to own a country house with a restaurant and have several cellular phone shops.

Update on Gloria Morales Pari

Entrepreneur: Gloria Morales Pari
Location: Ilave, El Collao - Puno, Peru

Gloria Morales Pari has been working with the Community Bank, San Miguel, and the MFI, Manuela Ramos, for five years, expanding her restaurant and her cell phone business. With her most recent loan of $975, which she is on track to repay in full, she purchased cell phone accessories for her store and a new refrigerator and freezer for her restaurant/snack shop.

Her past loans have also helped her expand her snack shop, adding more space to the back of the store for more room and more customers. She hopes that she will be able to make enough money from her two businesses to add on to her current home in Ilave, Peru, just south of Puno along the shores of Lake Titicaca, and to send her children, currently ages 9 and 10, to University in Arequipa, Peru.
