With her most recent loan of $325, which she is on track to repay in full, Dominga Mamani purchased material to make gelatin, a local favorite treat, and candies to sell in a small kiosk on the streets of Ilave, south of Puno, Peru along Lake Titicaca. In the past, she sold fruit on the street and at the local market, but she recently changed her business, as the fruit was too heavy to handle. She is very appreciative of the loans from Manuela Ramos, particularly because when her husband past away 6 years ago she was left with nothing and these loans have helped her survive.
