Shazia Kala Masih's Group

Shazia baji is a daughter of Kala Masih and lives in a small area named Bund Road in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. She has been living in this area for the last 20 years. She completed her education until 10th standard [grade]. She has one brother. Her brother is a driver by profession and drives a rented auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) and earns a profit. She is applying for a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw for her brother so that he is able to earn a better profit.

Shazia baji is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Fozia baji wants a loan to buy more clothes to resell. Nargis baji wants a loan to buy a donkey cart for loading. Lubna baji wants a loan to buy more wood to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
