Communal Bank: La Esperanza

Location: Juanjui, San Martin Region – Peru

Loan amount: 3,000 soles

Maria Luisa has a general store in a room she adapted in her own house. With the loan of 3,000 soles, Maria Luisa invested in stocking up her store with products her customers demand on a daily basis such as rice, cooking oil, canned foods, eggs etc. She also used a part of the loan to pay for the paperwork necessary to formally register her business at the local municipality. While the paperwork is still in process, Maria Luisa is happy to report that her business is going well. Although there is a lot of competition in her neighborhood, Maria Luisa has gained clients because she charges her customers a little less than other stores.

Maria Luisa is thankful for this loan and previous loans she has received through Manuela Ramos/CrediMujer. Without this support, Maria Luisa wouldn't have been able to invest and establish her business. Maria Luisa wants to keep going forward. In the near future, she would like to add more product variety so her customers can find everything they need in one place. Ultimately, Maria Luisa's dream is to see her two children become successful professionals with a brighter and more stable future. She believes that working hard in her business will help her and her children achieve that goal.
