Juana started her business out of necessity to earn an income that would help her feed her children. Her husband had passed away and Juana was left with the responsibility for her children. She looked for various alternatives to earn money and this was the best way to accommodate her needs, because she can also care for her children while she works. This is a better life, and Juana enjoys sales. First Juana began washing and ironing clothing and cleaning the houses of her neighbors, plus a couple of other activities that combined, earned enough income to support her children. In April 2002 Juana began to sell used clothing when her son, who lives in the U.S., sent her boxes of used clothing. She sold them, and was able to support her other children and help her grandchildren. Thanks to a previous loan with Kiva, Juana could buy more boxes of clothing. Now she'd like to buy used clothing for autumn and winter.

Juana needs a loan of US $400, which she'll repay in 5 months. She'll use the money to buy more boxes of clothing so as to offer better supplies to her clients and increase her sales and income.
