"Mujeres Activos," as the name suggests, is a group of 10 proactive women, each trying to take a step to better their lives. Ramona, the chosen group leader, is a hardworking mother of one child and is requesting a loan to start a small business selling food. Ramona is ready to start changing her life, and feels like this loan could be the start of something great! Loan Progress Update Entrepreneur: Mujeres Activos Group Location: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Teresita Silverio is the owner of a "colmado" which is a small convinience store and also the group coordinator for the group called Mujeres Activas. Teresita used this Kiva loan to purchase a variety of things in her store including plaintains and vegetables. Teresita has been with her husband Patoloto for about 28 years now. Teresita is not sure right now if she is going to get another loan but will definitely consider it. She said her last loan which was for 8000 pesos (about $225 USD) helped her business 100% and would like to thank Kiva lenders for what they are doing. Pictured is Teresita in her colmado.
