It has been disbursed to the Chicas de Monique group, consisting of Griselda Nuñez, Dominica Gamarra, Mirian Martinez, Nancy Santos, Norma Candia, Ilse Sosa, Cerafina Maciel, Maura Samudio, Maria Jimenez, Atanacia Gomez, Alba Coronel, Maida Dure, Digna Benitez, Mirta Toledo, Fabiola Mareco, Dionisia Benitez by Fundación Paraguaya in Paraguay. We are excited to watch this business grow. Over the next 3 months, Fundación Paraguaya will be collecting repayments from this entrepreneur and posting progress updates on the Kiva website.

Recently I sat down with Griselda Nuñez of the Chicas de Monique Women’s Group to hear about the progress she and her fellow group members have made since borrowing and repaying the loan they received from Fundación Paraguaya and Kiva.

As planned, the group members used the loan to purchase and distribute beauty products. The women make their sales in Villa Elisa and neighboring San Lorenzo, a bustling, chaotic district outside of Asunción. Some of them move about, selling door-to-door at residences and businesses, while others have established a more fixed clientele who place orders for certain products. Griselda told me that the cost of her merchandise has gone down recently, and in turn sales have been brisk.

The women of Chicas de Monique are now in the third cycle of Fundación Paraguaya’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Program. Griselda said that all of her fellow group members hope to continue to progress in the program, gradually increasing their credit limit and expanding the capacity of their individual businesses.
