Isabel is married and has five girls, ages 23, 18, 17, 14 and 10. The oldest has a professional career and the second oldest is studying at the National University of Altiplano, in Puno. Isabel's third daughter is in high school, and her youngest is in grade school. Isabel finished grade school and lives in the the town of Acari, in the district and province of Yunguyo.

Isabel has been a member of the "Fe y Alegría" [Faith and Joy] Community Bank in the town of Acari, Yunguyo, since 2000. With her first loan of 300 soles [about US$100], she had enough capital to purchase additional merchandise (blue jeans). According to Isabel, she always has liked doing business. When she was nine years old, she sold bread and candies. By the age of 18 she was married, and, since then, has sold clothing (jeans and sweaters). She purchases these items in the city of Desaguadero and then sells them in the city of Tacna. She also makes money fattening cattle, which she buys at the Acora fair and sells in Yunguyo.

With this loan of 3,000 soles [US$1,025] -- which will be paid back in 3 installments -- Isabel has in her budget to buy one cow worth 2,000 soles, as well as 1,000 soles-worth of merchandise (clothing).

Isabel's goal is to buy a house in Lima. She also hopes her children obtain good jobs. In addition, she is thinking about buying a car (mini van) to take a trip with her family.

Isabel Alberto de Almendre recently took out a $1,025 loan from Manuela Ramos and has paid it back in full. She used the funds to purchase one cow to fatten and sell and is still in the process of raising this cow that she will eventually sell at the market in Yunguyo, in the district of Puno, Peru. In addition to the cow, Isabel Albero purchased clothing in Desaguadero, in Peru on the border with Bolivia, and has been successful in selling this clothing at a profit at the market in the city of Tacna, Peru, on the Southern Coast. Isabel Alberto has been a member of the Community Bank Fe y Alegria (Faith and Happiness) since 2001 and the loans she has received from Manuela Ramos have assisted her in helping her children attend University and become professionals. She hopes to continue to make more profits from her loans in order to help her younger children attend University and would love to buy a car and a house with her husband in Lima or Tacna.
