Ana is 21 years old, studied until her fifth year of secondary school, is married and has a 2-year old daughter. She lives on Trujillo Street in the Mazocruz district, located in the El Collao province of Puno.

She has been a member of the communal bank “Generation 2000” of Mazocruz since the year 2007. She started with a loan of 300.00 new Peruvian soles, with which she bought meat, 2 gutted animals to sell by the kilo on market days. She lost her own mother when she was six years old, and was raised by her father and stepmother. Upon turning fifteen, she went to the city of Puno to work in restaurants so she could support herself and continue her studies. At nineteen, she met her partner and started to raise livestock such as cattle, sheep, alpacas and llamas, which she fattens and sells on foot.

With this credit of 1,000.00 new Peruvian soles, to be repaid in four installments, she will buy 2 cows at 500.00 Peruvian soles each. Currently, she is a member of an artisan womens’ association and works in agreement with the Sierra Sur Project. They count on technical accessories, in charge of seeking overseas markets, knitting chulos, gloves and socks.

Her dream is to travel to the city of Lima at her husband’s side, which is where he works, and start a business based on existing local demand.
