Tamtamneh Group

This group is called Tamtamneh. They are all business people in Makeni, the Northern provincial headquarters town. They have been together as a group with SMT for the past two years now and are now in their 4th loan cycle. Previously, SMT loaned these entrepreneurs Le 500,000.00 each. This they have repaid successfully and are now requesting a new loan. The previous loan made a lot of impact on their lives, but they still need more loans to further empower themselves in their businesses.

Their leader is Ahmed Kamara (on the left). Ahmed was born in Mambolo, in the Kambia District, in the North of Sierra Leone. He is 36 years of age. He is married to a business woman and the two have 4 children; one is in secondary school, two are in primary school, and the last is still very young.

Ahmed sells items like: chains, cosmetics, pastes and toothbrushes, batteries, and so on. Through this business, he is able to meet most of his financial needs. He has been in this business for the past 12 years now. Ahmed is doing fine in his business. His immediate goal is to build himself and his family a house. And he is very much optimistic that through his business, he will one day achieve this goal.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
