Shamshad baji is the wife of Talib Hussain and lives in a city named Lahore, Pakistan. Lahore city is famous for its historical places and its Punjabi food. She has been living in this city for the last 26 years. She is the mother of six sons. Shamshad baji's husband has a furniture-making and selling business. Her first three sons are involved in their father's business. The others are free and don't do anything.

Shamshad baji's husband has been in this business for the last 25 years. Shamshad baji is a housewife and prefers to do household work and take care of her family. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy more wood to expand her husband's furniture-making business.

She is joined in her loan group by several more members. Shahnaz baji and Shazia baji both want a loan to buy iron to make chains which are used to tie up cattle. Rukhsana baji wants a loan to buy construction material (cement and sand) to re-sell. Nasira baji wants a loan to buy more medicines to re-sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
