The village bank, located in Trapeang Srang Village in the Takeo Province, consists of ten people who each plan to use the loan for different purposes. Mr. Sieng He is the village bank president who was elected by its members. He sells lottery tickets and makes less than $2 a day, a low income to support his family. His wife, Mrs. Mork Srey Touch, owns a small grocery store in the local market. Since her business is going well, she wants to expand it. So, her husband, Mr. Sieng He, decided to ask for a loan to buy more grocery product for her inventory. Mrs. Sieng He is 44 years old and the mother of five children three of whom are attending the local school and two of whom are too young to work or study.
