Mambo from Mbeya, Tanzania and from SELFINA! Thank you for your loan through Kiva to Witness B. Simwangaile, a SELFINA client and micro-entrepreneur. The purpose of this journal is to update you on Witness and the status of her business.

As you know, your generosity helped Witness obtain a loan of $450 in November 2008. She is running Retail and used the loan to purchase inventory in bulk. She works at her business for 12 - hours per day, 7 days per week. Since she took out the loan, her business has been doing well and Witness’s monthly profits have increased from about $80 to approximately $140. She has used these extra profits to successfully repay her loan as well as to pay for her children school fees, paying electricity and water bills and for paying rent .

In the future, she is planning to request a loan of $450 from SELFINA with which she plans to expand her business and to start a new one. On the personal front, her family is doing well and she assisted with her husband. She is married with 4 children. Witness dreams about send her children to University. SELFINA aims to continue to assist Witness and other women like her, and empower them towards financial security and increased confidence through micro loans.
