Las Pampitas Group

The Las Pampitas group is made up of eleven women and two men who know each other from their neighborhood, in the tropical Santa Cruz de la Sierra region of eastern Bolivia. The group members are involved in a variety of different businesses: Martha does laundry, Cielo and Angel sell drinks, Nancy owns a pig farm, Yonny and Maria del Carmen sell prepared meals, Maria Ruby sells dulce de leche, Sonia sells sandals, Leonela does embroidery, Susana owns a bakery, Maria Eugenia sells hamburgers, and Claudia sells Yambal cosmetic products. The women have various levels of experience working in their respective areas, anywhere from two to twenty-four years.

Most of the group members plan to use the loan to buy more merchandise to sell or materials/ingredients to make their respective products. Most of them have previous experience with group loans at other financial institutions.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
