Update from Tarapoto, Peru - Lauristela Espinoza de Phillman

Entrepreneur: Lauristela Espinoza De Phillman
Location: Tarapoto - San Martin, Peru

Communal Bank: Nuestra Señora de la Paz

Location: Tarapoto, San Martin Region – Peru

Loan amount: 1,500 soles

Lauristela has a small general store in her house. Together with her husband, she also runs a sign and printing business where she prints calendars, makes banners and other publicity materials. With a portion of the loan of 1,500 soles, Lauristela invested in making calendars for 2009. With what was left, she bought products to stock her store such as canned foods, rice, sugar, oil and eggs. She is happy to report that her calendars sold very well and that her general store business is moving forward.

In the future, Lauristela would like to expand her business and have a wider variety of products so her clients can find everything they need in one place. She is also thinking about having another type of business and perhaps even sell at the city market to increase her sales.

Lauristela is thankful to Manuela Ramos and Kiva for the support she has received throught micro-credit. Because of this, Lauristela has been able to cover for her family's daily needs and make a significant contribution to her household's income.
