Jane Kyakuwa is the chairperson of Lubugumu Twekembe women's group that has been in existence for 5 years. She is a married woman with 10 children of whom one is at Makerere University doing a course in banking while the rest are in lower classes. She also helps to cater for school fees for many cousins that stay in the village.

Jane has two businesses. She is a farmer growing mostly bananas, cassava and sweet potatoes as well as making local alcohol to sell to bars around her and in the city centers. With the local brew, she makes waragi and tonto whereby she prepares spear grass that is mixed and mingled with the ripe juice-producing bananas (mabidde). The juice that comes out is put into jerry cans. Sorghum is mixed and covered in a previously dug hole for a week or two and the end result is Tonto. For waragi, the tonto is again put into metal cans and placed on a fire with a tube that connects to two more metal cans from which the boiled tonto moves and is cooled to make waragi.

In a week, Jane can make and sell 10 jerry cans of tonto and 10 of waragi as she also sells to her daily customers who drink at her home. Jane needs a loan to be able to buy more bananas, a metallic can, and firewood for her local brewing business.

Kyakuwa Jane has always been grateful for her loans since she is able to make more jerry cans of local brew each time she is given a loan. This has enabled her to retain her customers wherever they are as she always have what they need. She is again happy that during the times when she is not so busy with her brew making, she attends to her farm with the help of hired labor to make work much easier. She has been able to repay her loans promptly all kudos to you her lenders, since each time she is in a dilemma; you are there for her and those that she represents.
