Anwar Hadayat Ali's Group

Anwar baji is the wife of Hadayat Ali and lives in Pakistan in the city of Lahore in a district named Walton. She has been living in this city for the last 30 years. She is the mother of six children: three boys and three girls. Her eldest son is a mechanic and repairs vehicles. The next eldest to him is in 9th standard. The younger one is in 5th standard. Her eldest daughter couldn't get an education because of her weak mind. The next to her is in 10th standard. Her youngest daughter is in 8th standard.

Anwar baji's husband is a driver by profession. Anwar baji is a housewife but she sews clothes also. She has been in this line of work for the last 20 years. She has successfully repaid her three loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to repair her husband's small truck.

She is joined in her loan group by several more members. Nasreen baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Zubaida baji wants a loan to buy wood for her shutter business. Nasreen baji wants a loan to buy livestock to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
