Rebecca is a leader of a five-member group. She is a 51-year-old married woman with twelve children aged between seven and 30 years: nine of her children go to school, and the rest are working. She owns and resides in a three-room house in a semi-urban area on the outskirts of Kampala, living with eight people where she constructed a poultry house. There is no electricity or water, and Rebecca also takes care of three orphans.

The family gets three meals a day. She sells chicken (broilers) to all kinds of people both wholesale and retail, selling to an average of 50 people per day. She buys her feed from Mengo-Kisenyi, a suburb of Kampalahome. Rebecca has been in this business for only six months; she first dealt in second-hand clothes but she found the job so tiresome, spending the whole day just walking looking for customers

Rebecca works seven days a week. Rebecca has been with MCDT for over seven years working with the same group who are now seeking their eighteenth loan. Her major challenges include theft, limited markets for chickens, infections like chicken pox and gumboro, and the increasing price of chicken feed. Rebecca is seeking this loan to provide water and electricity for her poultry farm.
