Ruqaiya M.amin's Group

Ruqaiya baji is the wife of M. Amin and lives in a small city named Kot Radha Kishan, Pakistan. She has been living in this city for 25 years. She has seven children: two sons and five daughters. Her eldest son sews clothes. The others are enrolled in a local school in her neighborhood. Her husband has raised buffalo and sold their milk for the last 5 years. Ruqaiya baji is a housewife and prefers doing household work and taking care of her family. She successfully repaid her previous four loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is requesting a loan to buy another buffalo to expand her husband's milk business.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Shaheen baji wants a loan to buy electric supplies (switches, switch boards, tubes) for her electrical shop. Naseem baji wants a loan to buy a wood-cutting machine. Nasreen baji wants a loan to buy material (kettle, milk, tea, and cups) for her tea stall. Rehana baji wants a loan to buy seasonal vegetables to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
