Thoeung Nat

Thoeung Nat, 42, is a fish vendor who lives with six of her children in the Kampong Cham province. She typically makes about US$4 each day, and her husband, Chhun Pich, makes about US$6 each day as a cow dealer. The weather conditions have been difficult in Cambodia this past year, and inflation has also been out of control. These factors have created a difficult economic year for many Cambodians. This couple together also got support from two of their children who work as a garment worker and a sculptor. Thoeung Nat is asking for a loan of US$700 to make two investments. She would like to invest US$400 in her husband’s business and also put US$300 into her own business, increasing the number of fish to sell. She sees these investments as opportunities that will increase her daily income.
