Mathias Njingang has been a member of GHAPE since 2004, and has used several loans to expand his farm.
Like some other long-term loan recipients, Mathias is keen to diversify his business beyond agriculture. To that end, he hopes this loan will allow him to buy a motorbike and cover the associated registration and insurance costs. In this part of Cameroon, bikes are a good way of moving goods and people to and from town, as the roads become impassable to bigger vehicles after it rains.
Mathias speaks highly of the good that GHAPE has done for him and his community. He says it is the first NGO to come to his area, and it has taught people about living in healthy places, educated their children and explained business development to him and many of his neighbors.
Mathias is single and says he wants to use profits of his labour to look after his health and education, and ultimately to build a house.
