Esther Twumwaah is a 46 year old mother of two children who are schooling. She is very hard working and resourceful for her family. She trades in charcoal in her neighborhood. Charcoal is very popular source of energy for cooking in almost all Ghanaian traditional homes. Esther obtains her supply of charcoal from the surrounding villages of Sunyani, where she lives and retails them to her customers. She wants to use the loan to buy bulk supplies of charcoal to increase her inventory. She hopes the loan will enable her to increase her savings to pay her children's educational fees. She belongs to the community group called Proverb Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to repay the loan.
