The San Juan group is made up of twelve women and two men, most of whom work in different business sectors. Silvia and Felicia work as domestic help; Jose is a mechanic; Esperanza, Norah, Laida, Angelica and Marisabel sell food (chicken, prepared meals and gelatin desserts); Jesus is a carpenter; Melvi sells cosmetics; Aquilina sells veterinary supplies; and Nelda, Karen and Claudia all sell clothing. All of them have 8 years or less of experience working in their respective businesses, and they all plan to use their Kiva loans to purchase more materials or merchandise to sell.
Many of the women have worked with other microfinance institutions before. This is the second loan San Juan has taken out with AgroCapital.
