Khalida Razzaq Hussain's Group

Khalida baji lives in Shah Rukn-e-Alam, a part of the city of Multan. Multan is famous for its historical places and handicrafts. Her house consists of one large room, one wash room, and an open kitchen. She has been living there for the last 20 years. Khalida baji is the mother of three children: two sons and one daughter. Her elder son is a driver and drives a rented auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Her younger son is in 5th standard and her daughter reads in 4th standard. Her husband, Razzaq Hussain, works in a factory.

Khalida baji is a housewife and prefers to do household work and take care of her children. She is applying for a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw for her elder son.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Zubaida baji and Shamim baji each want a loan to buy material (beads, colored thread, and cloth) for their decorative embroidery businesses. Rashida baji wants a loan to buy bicycle spare parts for her spare parts shop. Nusrat baji wants a loan to buy clothes to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
