    Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin

    Entrepreneur: Thi Thin Nguyen's Group
    Location: Bac Ninh, Viet Nam

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin at her pig farming business. She is an extremely friendly woman and has a passion for raising many different types of animals such as pigs, buffalo and milking cows. She tells me that she is very thankful for her loan which allowed her to buy about 15 baby pigs. She then raised the animals to sell. She also has a partnership with two other businesses in the village where she sends her animals to get slaughtered which she then can take and sell for fresh meat. She is happy to report that she hasn’t had many troubles with her business this year and that she has been able to make an extra 500,000 VND per animal.

When I asked her how she chose to work with Binh Minh and SEDA she told me that she felt very comfortable with the whole process and that she liked the way she could repay the loan weekly as opposed to the lump sum payments many other institutions require. She also enjoyed the fact that she could meet with her peers once a month and have people she could turn to if she was having any difficulties.

I was very fascinated by how vital Ms. Nguyen was to her entire family’s well being. She and her husband sell some of the meat in Hanoi which her husband transports everyday on his motorbike. With some of the money that they make they help pay for two of their son in laws' businesses like a motorbike repair shop and a carpentry and furniture making business. She also uses some of the money she makes each month to pay for her son’s education at a local university. She hopes that one day her son will graduate and get a great job and her grandchildren will be able to eat well and also have a great education.
