Rehana Abdul Majeed's Group

Rehana kosar baji is the wife of Abdul Majeed and a mother of one 10-year-old son, Husnain. She lives in a small city named Chichawatni, Pakistan. Her husband runs a cigarette shop. He buys cigarettes from markets and sells them in his community. He has been in this profession for the last 8 years. Rehana baji is a housewife and prefers to do household work. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a second loan to buy more cigarettes to expand her husband's business.

She is joined in her loan group by four other members. Nargis baji wants a loan to buy Islamic religious books for her bookshop. Bilquis baji wants a loan to buy more wheat to resell. Ramzan baji wants a loan to buy rice and wheat to resell. Naziran baji wants a loan to buy crockery for their food business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
