Loan update from Lamas, Peru - Dimelith Rios Cordova

Entrepreneur: Dilmelith Rios Cordova
Location: Lamas - San Martín, Peru

Entrepreneur: Dimelith Rios Cordova

Communal Bank: Las Lameñas

Location: Lamas, San Martin – Peru

Loan amount: 1,200 soles

Dimelith owns a small stand at the Lamas central market where she sells all kinds of staple products. She shares the responsibilities of the business with her husband. She tends to customers early in the morning and then her husband takes over so she can go back home to take care of the children. Dimelith has two young children, an 11-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.

With the loan of 1,200 soles, Dimelith stocked her business and bought a variety of products such as rice, oil, sugar, soap, cleaning products, shampoos, milk cartons, cookies and sweets. Her business is going well but sales have decreased during the school recess season, as it has happened for most merchants in the area. Dimelith and her husband are confident that sales will go back up again now that classes are starting.

Dimelith feels like she has been able to improve her business with the loans she is taking out through Manuela Ramos/CrediMujer. She is thankful for being able to access credit because she feels like her business has grown since she started. Dimelith wants to expand her business. Ideally, she would like to have a locale that will allow her to sell the whole day because the central market closes at noon. Dimelith is also thinking about the future of her young children and her business is the medium that will allow her to support them now and in the future.
