Seema Maskeen Ali's Group

Seema baji is the wife of Maskeen Ali and lives in a small city named Chichawatni, Pakistan. She owns a two room brick house and has been living in it for the last 30 years. She has no children. Her husband is a driver by profession with 8 years of experience. Seema baji is a housewife and prefers to do household work. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). She made an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled vehicle) business from that loan. Now she is applying for a loan to repair her auto-rickshaw.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Najma baji wants a loan to buy vegetables to resell. Salma baji wants a loan to buy materials (cooking oil, lentils, rice) for her food business. Parveen baji wants a loan to buy fruits to resell. Niamat baji wants a loan to buy wheat to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
