Haleema Zahoor Ahmad's Group

Haleema baji is the wife of Zahoor Ahmad and the mother of four children: two sons and two daughters. All of her children are enrolled in a school in her neighborhood. She lives in a small city named Chichawatni, Pakistan. Her husband has a wood business. He is a woodcutter by profession. He buys wood from a local market and cuts it into pieces and sells them at the market and in his community. Zahoor Ahmad is the only breadwinner for the family. Heleema baji is applying for a loan to buy more wood to expand her husband's business.

She is joined in her loan group by several more members. Suraiya baji and Kosar baji each want a loan to buy mason's tools. Sugran baji wants a loan to buy crockery to re-sell. Naziran baji wants a loan to buy candies to re-sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
