Loan update from Lamas, Peru - Norma Panduro Romero

Entrepreneur: Norma Panduro Romero
Location: Lamas - San Martín, Peru

Entrepreneur: Norma Panduro Romero

Communal Bank: Brigada Ramirez (Ramirez Brigade)

Location: Lamas, San Martin – Peru

Loan amount: 1,300

Norma owns a small general store located in her own house. With the loan of 1,300 soles that she received she invested in buying a display case to show her products better. She is now showing in that display case cookies, chocolates and other sweets that her customers demand on a daily basis. Norma thinks that her business is going well in general. There are days when she sells a lot, but the past few months were not as good because sales decline for most merchants when schools are in recess. She expects her sales to go up now that it's back-to-school season.

Norma obtains the products she needs from Tarapoto, the commercial hub of the San Martin region that is half an hour away from Lamas. Merchandise is cheaper in Tarapoto which allows Norma to increase her income. With the profits she has made, Norma invested in improving her house and she has also invested back into her business, buying more products as they run out.

Norma is proud of what she has achieved with her business, but more than anything, she is proud of having been able to provide for her daughter after her husband left them. Her daughter is now 18 and is going to the university in Tarapoto. She is an excellent student who likes to learn and does well in her classes. Norma's dream is to see her daughter become a professional and an independent woman. She is also thinking about the future of her business. She would like to expand her store, buy a bigger refrigerator to store more cold drinks and offer snack foods and lunches. Norma thinks working with Manuela Ramos/CrediMujer is the best alternative available and she intends to stay in her communal bank for a long time.
