Commerce is the main activity of people. The women devote themselves particularly to commerce because of the lack of industries in villages. The group is fixed on, among other objectives, improving the living conditions of its members and alleviating the burden of housewives. It involves buying and reselling products from ocean harvests (smoked fish, dried fish), lemon juice, palm oil from the Ziguinchor region, cloth, pagnes (popular African fabrics), holiday-related goods from the Kaolack region, and any other merchandise that is easy to sell and that doesn’t deteriorate rapidly. This will enable them to do a good business, such as during the holidays of Korité (Aïd el Fitr) and of Tabaski (Aïd el Kabir).

For this project to succeed, the group is requesting a renewal of a loan of 1,000,000 francs that will be shared between two groups: Diamono Plateau 1 (500,000 francs) and Diamono Plateau 2 (500,000 francs) in order to be able to manage these businesses well.
