Video interview with Bo Chhanda of Neth Yoeun VB Entrepreneur: Mrs. Neth Yoeun Village Bank Group Location: Sdao Kanlaeng Village, Cambodia My name is Katie Davis and I am a Kiva Fellow (KF7) volunteering in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for 4 months at Kiva field partner AMK. I recently had the opportunity to visit the Sdao Kanleang Village in Kandal Province to interview Kiva borrowers. I spoke with Mrs. Bo Chhanda, who is a member of the Neth Yoeun Village Bank group of 14 entrepreneurs. I filmed our conversation with the help of AMK’s Kiva Coordinator and translator, Mr. Sopanith Hay, and I would like to share a brief video update with you based on this interview. Please enjoy! The Neth Yoeun Village Bank group has faced a setback in the past month because one of the group members ran away with her portion of the money. This is a rare occurrence in the Cambodian microfinance landscape. Four of the other group members have stepped up to cover the runaway’s portion of the loan repayments so that the group stays on track for full repayment. This is an unfortunate situation but the group seems to be handling it well. When a village bank group is initially formed, all members agree to guarantee each other in case of delinquency or default. Thank you for making a loan through Kiva.
