El Tap

El Tap, age 37, is married and lives in Prey Veng, Cambodia. Since 2000, she has sold beef to earn a living and is able to earn up to US$3 of profit per day. Her husband, Hel Ly, age 36, is a local butcher who provides meat for her to sell. Mrs. Tap told a loan officer that prior to selling beef she was a vendor selling vegetables and her husband was a construction worker who built houses. However, both had to change professions due to problems. She told a loan officer that every month she needs to pay for food that costs around US$35 and utilities that cost about US$5. Together, this couple has three children, two of whom are employed and one is too young to work.

Mrs. El Tap is seeking a loan of US$1,000 to purchase cow for her husband to kill for meat.
