Shamim M.tufail

Shamim Akhtar baji is the widow of M.Tufail, and she lives in the small city of Riwind, Pakistan. She owns a two-room, brick house, which she and her family have lived in for the last 24 years. She is the mother of seven children: six sons and one daughter. Her oldest son has a compact disc (CD) shop, and he has 6 years of experience in the business; her next three oldest sons work as tailors; and her other sons and daughter are enrolled in a local school in her neighborhood.

To generate income for her family, Shamim baji makes school bags and sells them in various areas. Moreover, she does work around her house and takes care of her children. Notably, she successfully repaid three previous loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan). Now, she is applying for another loan in order to buy more CDs to expand her son’s business.
