Shazia baji is the wife of Muhammad Taj Din. She lives in Multan, Pakistan. She owns a two-room brick house and has been living in it for the last 5 years. She is the mother of one daughter and one son. Her daughter is 3 months old and her son is one year old. Shazia baji completed her education until the 10th standard grade. She runs a boutique independently. Her husband makes decorative scarves and sells them in the market. This is a very profitable business because Multan City is famous for its handmade items. Shazia baji successfully completed her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy material (thread, needles) to help expand her husband's business.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Nusrat baji wants a loan to buy material for her decorative embroidery business. Zubaida baji wants a loan to buy more supplies (lentils, cooking oil) for her grocery shop. Naseem baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled vehicle). Hussan Bano baji wants a loan to buy material for her decorative embroidery business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
