Benita, or Romanita as her friends and family affectionately call her, is in her late thirties. She’s the proud mother of two boys aged eleven and fourteen, both of whom go to school. Her husband works as a driller. Benita explains that her husband’s wages can no longer support the family’s needs. She sadly says that her financial situation forced her to withdraw her children from the private school of the community. Now they’re going to the public school, where the education is not the best.
Benita wants to contribute to the family’s budget and help her husband in supporting the family. She’s requesting a loan to start a small business of selling fried dishes. Benita says she’s a good cook and that people will be attracted at once by her high quality and tasty dishes. The entrepreneur hopes she’ll succeed in her endeavor.
Benita will receive the funds together with the following women:

Pura Maria Columna Milano, a beauty products retailer;

Marilenni Mendez, who operates a small fruits and vegetables store;

Venancia Martinez Contreras, to invest in women’s clothing; and

Santa Nieves De La Rosa Aybar, who sells beauty products in the community.
