Maïmouna Thiero

Madame Maïmouna Thiero is twenty-seven years old and lives with her two children and her husband in a monogamous household in the Bougoulaville neighborhood in downtown Sikasso, in the third administrative district of Mali. For economic reasons, she did not attend school, but quickly took interest in income-generating activities. Since 2004, she has been particularly focused on the purchase and sale of clothing, baby powder and various other commodities.

Due to her lack of personal funds and a growing demand for her services, she sought the help of the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso, which is coordinating this loan. She intends to buy ten dozen bottles of baby powder, twenty handbags, twenty pairs of women’s shoes and two boxes of beauty products.

She restocks monthly in the city of Bobo Dioulasso, in neighboring Burkina Faso. She sells her wares in her home as well as at the central market in Sikasso. Her business caters mainly to young women and new mothers. Most of her sales are retail and paid in cash. She has a loyal client base.

The profit from this loan, which is estimated at 100,000 CFA francs, will help cover the costs of family life, pay the interest on the loan, and provide further funds for her business.

Madame Maïmouna Thiero a 27 ans et vit avec ses 2 enfants et son époux dans une famille monogame au quartier Bougoula-ville au centre ville de Sikasso (troisième région administrative de la république du Mali). Pour des raisons économiques elle n’a pas fréquenté l’école et s’est très vite interessée aux activités génératrices de revenus notamment l’achat vente d’habits, de poudre pour enfants et d’articles divers depuis 2004.
En raison de l’insuffissance de son fonds propre et en raison de la demande croissante, elle décida de solliciter la collabration de Soro Yiriwaso qui vient de lui octroyer un premier prêt. Elle compte acheter 10 douzaines de Poudre pour enfant, 20 sacs à main féminins, 20 paires de chaussures feminines et 2 cartons de produits de beauté.

Elle s’approvisionne à Bobo Dioulasso (république du Burkina Faso un pays limitrophe de la république du Mali) généralement une fois par mois. Elle vend ses articles au grand marché de Sikasso et au niveau du domicile conjugal. Sa clientèle est composée essentiellement de femmes, de démoiselles et des nouvelles mamans. Ses ventes se font généralement en détail au comptant et rarement à crédit à une clientèle très fidèle.
Le bénéfice estimé à 100.000 FCFA servira aux dépenses familiales en appui à son mari, à payer les intérêts de son prêt et investir le reste dans son activité.
