More than eight years ago, 18 women formed the “Corazones de Oro” Association. They work together with the Pro-Mujer family convinced that they can improve their quality of life. The majority of the women live in the Senkata neighborhood in the city of El Alto. The most common activity among them is the preparation and sale of food in local markets and boarding houses, as is the case with Bacilia who rents a space where she can offer, for the most part, traditional food like chairo paceño (soup made with dried potatoes and lamb), fricase (stew made with pork, white corn and dried potatoes) and pork rinds among other dishes.

The women affirm that an increase in food prices caused an imbalance in their earnings, which is what brings them to ask for additional credit. They will inject capital into their businesses in order to maintain economic stability in their homes.
