Rose Nansubuga, a midwife and the leader of a group of four women, is 45 years old and married with seven children ranging in age from 18 to 30. The two youngest children are in school while the five oldest work. Rose lives in an urban slum on the outskirts of Kampala that is prone to flooding during the rainy season.

As the owner of her hospital facility, Rose has been offering her midwife services since 1994, working seven days a week. She sees approximately 10 women each week and has many repeat customers because, as she says, she treats each woman very well.

With this loan Rose plans on buying medicine for her patients from pharmacies in Kampala.

Rose has repaid 12 loans since she began working with MCDT. With these loans she has been able to develop her business, buy a house, build houses that she rents out and pay school fees.

Rose hopes to be able to continue running her business and one day see all of her children get jobs.
