Sakina Abdul Rahmad's Group

Sakina baji is the wife of Abdul Rahman and has lived in Raiwind, Pakistan for the last 45 years. She is the mother of four children: three sons and one daughter. Her daughter makes embroidered dresses; her elder son is a government servant, while the next eldest works in a petrol pump. Her husband is a government servant. Sakina has a milk business, but she also does household work. She successfully concluded previous loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan) and is now applying for a new one to buy a buffalo for her milk business.

She is joined in her loan group by four other members: Bashiran baji wants to buy an animal to resell; Zahida baji wishes to purchase a buffalo for her milk business; Sajida baji wants a loan for her embroidery business, while Parveen baji wishes to buy more products for her grocery shop.

This is a group loan whose funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members guarantee one another's loans, so if one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
