Chheoum Koib, 42, is a married woman living with her husband in Siem Reap, Cambodia. A CREDIT MFI loan officer recently visited Koib to check on her progress. After receiving her loan, Koib said she bought a motor bike for her son instead of buying piglets to breed. Because her son is employed in a sculpting shop with a monthly salary of US$120, she has changed her mind to buy a motorbike for him to go to work. With this motorbike, her son is able to decrease the expense on transportation services and give his family some money.

I recently visited Koib again to see how the loan progress on her business. She said that her farming is doing not so bad but she still worry about the water. She afraid there is not enough water so it easily spoil her rice crop. She currently makes and sells rice wine but this business make her save a small amount of money. She also raise pigs but lately a few of them are getting ill. She said even she and her husband make less profit, but she does not so worry about the repayment. Her son who employed in a sculpting shop is responsible for repayment. In the future, she plans to take out another loan so that she can reinvest in her businesses.
